A Bareilly Spa Centre, operating under the guise of a wellness retreat, has been exposed as a prostitution ring after a woman seeking employment bravely reported its illicit activities to the police. The “Buddha Spa Centre,” located in the Prem Nagar area of Bareilly, was raided following the woman’s complaint, leading to the arrest of five individuals involved in the operation.
The spa, situated near Kohra Peer Chowki, had recently opened and attracted clientele from Bareilly and surrounding districts. Luxury vehicles were reportedly used to bring women to the location during the night, raising suspicions about the true nature of the Bareilly spa centre.
The complainant, in search of job opportunities, visited the Bareilly spa centre and was offered a managerial position with a lucrative salary. However, she was allegedly shocked to discover the true conditions and nature of the work. Promptly, she decided against accepting the position and reported the suspicious activities to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bareilly, Anurag Arya.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, SSP Arya assembled a dedicated police team to investigate the Bareilly spa centre. The police officers, posing as potential customers, conducted a raid on the premises. Their operation resulted in the immediate apprehension of five individuals – three women and two men – directly linked to the prostitution racket operating within the Bareilly spa centre.
Investigations revealed the key individuals running the illicit operation. Jyoti, identified as the director, hailed from Hisar district in Haryana. Rekha, the manager, was a resident of Moradabad district, and Suman, the deputy manager, resided in Bareilly. Police reports suggest that this network of women had connections extending across Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and even Nepal, indicating a large-scale operation.
Authorities stated that these women, with the assistance of two Bareilly residents, Sahil and Rohit, lured women with deceptive job offers and coerced them into prostitution at the Bareilly spa centre. During the raid, police recovered several incriminating items and medications from the location, further solidifying the evidence against the accused.
Circle Officer City Pankaj Kumar Srivastava confirmed the details of the case, stating, “A woman from Thana Prem Nagar filed a complaint at the police station regarding her experience at the Buddha Spa Centre. She reported being exploited under the guise of a job offer. Based on her complaint, a raid was conducted at the spa centre. We have arrested three women and two men, and a case has been registered against them. Further investigation into the Bareilly spa centre and its network is currently underway.”
