The Moorings Village and Spa in Islamorada, Florida, is a family-owned and operated luxury resort committed to providing an exceptional guest experience. Our love for the Florida Keys and creating lasting memories for our visitors is at the heart of everything we do. This isn’t just a business for us; it’s our home, a place where we strive to recapture the tranquil beauty of old Florida. We’ve carefully preserved the natural landscape, creating a haven from the noise and concrete of modern development. Our beachfront cottages are nestled under a lush tree canopy, prioritizing privacy and a harmonious connection with nature over unobstructed ocean views. At The Moorings, the simple pleasures of life take center stage. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely walk on the beach, swimming in the turquoise waters, or simply relaxing on your porch, you’ll find peace and quiet, a rare commodity in today’s world.
The Moorings Village has a rich history dating back to 1936 when it was originally built as a private estate. The property included a main house, guest houses, and several other buildings. Hurricane Donna significantly impacted Islamorada in the 1960s, after which the previous owner transformed the estate into a small fishing resort. It quickly became a popular destination for fly fishermen eager to catch bonefish in the shallow flats just off the beachfront. In 1987, Hubert Baudoin, the current owner, purchased The Moorings. Over the years, he has overseen a thoughtful expansion and renovation, always prioritizing the preservation of the natural environment. Instead of forcing nature to conform to our plans, we’ve adapted our designs to enhance the existing landscape, protecting the precious ecosystem that surrounds us.
