Seeking a luxurious escape for my birthday, I recently indulged in a day of blissful relaxation at Go Place, a 5-Star Luxury Spa. As a parent, some child-free, self-care time was exactly what I needed. After sharing snippets of my experience on Instagram, I received numerous inquiries, prompting me to detail my visit for anyone considering this urban oasis.
What Awaits You at Go Place?
Imagine a sanctuary dedicated to relaxation and rejuvenation. If you appreciate the concept of Scandinavian spas, Go Place elevates the experience with a focus on indoor luxury and a wider array of amenities. While it may not boast panoramic outdoor vistas, Go Place compensates with sophisticated indoor facilities. Guests can immerse themselves in gender-specific hot tubs and jacuzzis, unwind in communal saunas and uniquely themed therapy rooms, and even maintain their fitness routine in the on-site gym. Beyond hydrotherapy and wellness treatments, Go Place offers leisurely pursuits like billiards and board games, complimentary Wi-Fi access, and tranquil relaxation zones equipped with comfortable recliners and loungers. A well-stocked library provides ample reading material to while away the hours.
During my visit, I made full use of almost every amenity, with the exception of the fitness center – relaxation was my priority! I pre-booked a therapeutic one-hour deep tissue massage with a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). The massage was exceptional, effectively releasing tension from every muscle. The serene ambiance and soothing music amplified the relaxation, creating a truly immersive experience.
My partner, Will, spontaneously opted for a 30-minute massage with a masseuse. While he found it pleasant, the open-area recliner setting, unlike my private massage room with a dedicated table, resulted in a slightly less comfortable neck position.
Dining at Go Place is seamless and convenient. The in-house dining area allows guests to order lunch and snacks via tablet devices, with table service. The menu predominantly features Asian cuisine, including flavorful dishes like fried rice, noodles, sashimi, sushi rolls, comforting pork bone soup, katsu udon, succulent lamb racks, and fresh oysters, among other options. A diverse beverage selection is also available, including my personal favorite, bubble tea.
Understanding the Value: Admission and Costs
The overall cost depends on your chosen indulgences. General admission is priced at $63.95 per person, granting access to all saunas, hot tubs, shower facilities, the fitness center, and therapy rooms. Complimentary amenities include lockers, towels, and stylish two-piece spa wear reminiscent of Louis Vuitton designs for use during your visit. Water stations are conveniently located throughout the spa. Additional services, such as rejuvenating facials, body treatments, and massages, are available at extra cost. Importantly, Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) treatments may be eligible for insurance coverage. This was a significant benefit for me, as I successfully claimed my massage through my insurance plan. It’s advisable to verify your insurance coverage details and claim submission requirements prior to booking.
Slippers are offered as an optional purchase for $3, while robes are available for rent at $5 or purchase at $30 if you desire the complete spa ensemble. For those planning to utilize the fitness facilities, running shoes and socks are provided.
Dining costs are surprisingly reasonable, aligning with typical restaurant prices for comparable dishes. All expenses incurred during your visit are conveniently recorded via your bracelet and consolidated into a single bill upon checkout. Applicable taxes and a 12% gratuity are added to the final bill, a detail transparently communicated by the staff both upfront and at checkout. A late departure fee of $15 applies for stays extending past 2 am or overnight.
Safety Measures During Covid-19
My visit felt reassuringly safe. Arriving early on a Thursday meant fewer guests were present, and the expansive facility allowed for ample distancing. Proof of vaccination is mandatory for entry, and all staff members consistently wore masks. Guests are also encouraged to wear masks in communal lounge areas, with mask removal permitted only in hot tubs and steam rooms. Personal responsibility and adherence to safety precautions are paramount. We maintained our distance from other guests throughout our visit and observed stringent hygiene practices. Masks and hand sanitizers were readily available at counters and throughout the premises.
Impeccable Cleanliness Standards
Upon entering the second floor via escalator, guests are immediately requested to remove their shoes, which are then securely stored in designated shoe lockers. While I cannot comment on the men’s facilities, the women’s change room was consistently clean and well-maintained throughout my visit. Staff were visibly present, diligently vacuuming, cleaning, and tidying all areas. There was a brief instance where tissue and toilet paper needed restocking in the women’s restrooms as the spa became busier later in the afternoon, which I promptly brought to the staff’s attention, and they addressed it quickly.
Optimal Visiting Times: Avoiding Crowds
Weekdays are unequivocally the most tranquil times to visit. Even arriving before 10 am on a weekday, there were already a few early risers. My partner enjoyed exclusive use of a hot tub, and I relished a private steam room experience. Go Place operates 24/7, and guest numbers tend to increase post-lunch and into the late afternoon. A staff member mentioned that evenings are typically busier periods.
Added Touches of Luxury
Go Place distinguishes itself as a luxury spa through thoughtful details. They utilize premium toiletries from L’Occitane, and provide Dyson hair dryers in the changing areas. I particularly appreciated the cell phone compartments conveniently located beside each therapy room, encouraging digital detox and enhancing the relaxation atmosphere. Many guests, myself included, choose Go Place for birthday pampering. The staff acknowledged my birthday upon check-in and gifted me a complimentary massage chair session. In a playful touch, reminiscent of the card game Monopoly Deal, mentioning “It’s my birthday!” to the dining staff resulted in a complimentary cupcake – a sweet and delightful gesture.
Final Verdict: Return Visit?
Having experienced Korean saunas and bathhouses previously, Go Place represents a significant step up in luxury and overall wellness experience. Its focus on indoor indulgence makes it ideal for couples or groups seeking a sophisticated and relaxing retreat (board games are available!). Overall, my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Go Place. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who values pampering and therapeutic relaxation. We are already planning our return. I hope this detailed review is helpful!
