Spa Special Liveries: Porsche 963’s Unique Design for Le Mans

Porsche unveiled a striking special livery for its 963 race cars at Spa-Francorchamps, ahead of the FIA WEC 6-hour race. The design will also be featured at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The most prominent feature is fifteen stripes in seven distinct colors, dynamically flowing from the front and widening towards the rear of the Porsche 963. This creates a visually captivating effect that distinguishes the cars on the track. To further differentiate the three participating cars, the fin on each engine hood displays a unique color: black for car No. 5, white for No. 6, and red for the third Le Mans entry, No. 75.

These colors are not randomly chosen; they represent significant moments in Porsche’s Le Mans history. Each hue pays tribute to past victories and iconic liveries, connecting the present with the brand’s rich racing heritage. This year marks the 75th anniversary of Porsche sports cars and the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, making this special livery even more meaningful.

“This year, we are celebrating 75 years of Porsche sports cars. Motorsport, and endurance racing in particular, is a core element of our Porsche DNA. Therefore, the 100th anniversary of the Le Mans 24 Hours also has a special significance for the Porsche brand as well,” explains Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board, Sales and Marketing. “The color scheme of the three works race cars connects both anniversaries. Every color on the Porsche 963s has its own Le Mans history. And we are very proud of every single one of them.”

The driver lineups for the Le Mans race have been confirmed. The No. 5 Porsche 963 will be driven by the permanent WEC drivers: Dane Cameron, Frédéric Makowiecki, and Michael Christensen. The No. 6 car will be piloted by André Lotterer, Kévin Estre, and Laurens Vanthoor. Finally, the No. 75 cockpit will be shared by Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy, and Mathieu Jaminet. Each team brings a wealth of experience and skill to the challenging endurance race.
