In a significant crackdown on illicit activities, Mumbai Police have exposed a sex racket operating under the guise of a Spa In Vile Parle East. This marks the second such incident this month, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking in the city. The raid on Thai Villa Authentic Spa led to the rescue of six Thai women and the arrest of the spa’s owners and managers.

Located in the upscale locality of Dixit Road in Vile Parle East, the Thai Villa Authentic Spa was allegedly using its Thai massage services as a front for prostitution. The establishment, which had been inaugurated in 2018 by a Bollywood celebrity, was owned by Shura Khan and Sumit Singhania under Shura Leisure Private Limited.

Acting on a tip-off, Unit IX of the Crime Branch conducted a raid at 8:30 p.m. at the spa. During the operation, six Thai women were rescued. The manager and owner of the spa were taken into custody and placed in the Vile Parle police station lock-up.

Authorities confiscated ₹1.23 lakh in cash, a point of sale (POS) terminal, multiple packets of condoms, a laptop, voucher books, and other pertinent documents from the spa premises. Ms. Khan and Mr. Singhania, the spa managers, face charges of human trafficking under the Indian Penal Code and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

According to an official statement, the rescued women have been handed over to the Vile Parle police for further investigation. It was discovered that all six women were in possession of tourist visas and lacked the necessary work permits. Following the investigation, they are expected to be deported through the Thai consulate.

This recent raid follows a similar incident earlier in August, where eight women were rescued, and three individuals were arrested after a raid on a spa in Goregaon suspected of operating a flesh trade racket. This underscores the ongoing issue of illegal activities masked as legitimate spa and massage centers in Mumbai and the proactive measures being taken by law enforcement to address it.
