Prakasam district police are taking a firm stance against illegal activities allegedly taking place within spa and body massage centers in Ongole. Superintendent of Police (SP) AR Damodar issued a strong warning, stating that stringent action will be taken against any spa management found to be involved in unlawful conduct. This announcement signals a significant crackdown aimed at ensuring that establishments offering spa services in Ongole operate within the bounds of the law.
To enforce this directive, police officials were instructed to conduct comprehensive raids targeting all spas, massage centers, and unisex salons operating within the Ongole Municipal Corporation (OMC) limits. These raids were designed to be extensive and thorough, demonstrating the police’s commitment to eradicating illegal activities from these establishments in Ongole.
On Sunday, a coordinated operation was executed across Ongole. Teams consisting of Circle Inspectors (CIs) and Sub-Inspectors (SIs), led by Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), simultaneously raided 16 centers throughout the city. The raids resulted in the apprehension of three owners, along with seven women and six customers allegedly involved in illicit activities. Formal cases have been registered against these individuals, and they have been taken into police custody for further investigation.
Details of these raids were disclosed to the media by Inspectors Ali Saheb, Jagadeesh, Shaik Khaja Vali, Ajay Kumar, and Subba Rao from Ongole I Town, II-Town, Taluk, Ongole Rural, and Chimakurthy police stations. The press briefing was held at the Ongole I Town Police Station on Sunday, providing transparency and informing the public about the police action taken against certain spas in Ongole.
According to official reports, the police apprehended K Pawan Kumar (31), identified as a management representative, at Sara Beauty Saloon/Spa center located on Guntur Road. At this location, authorities found five women and three customers allegedly engaged in illegal activities. One additional visitor managed to escape the scene. The Taluk police station has officially registered cases related to the activities at this particular Spa In Ongole.
SS Saloon & Spa Centre, situated on Anjaiah Road, was also found to be involved in immoral activities. The manager, Turimella PothuRaju (41), along with one woman and one visitor, are now facing legal repercussions. Cases have been registered against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reflecting the seriousness of the alleged offenses at this spa in Ongole.
Further raids extended to ‘O Range’ Unisex Salon & Spa Centre in Balaji Rao Peta. The owner, Konieti Kannaiah (28), was found to be involved in illegal activities along with a woman and a visitor. In a stern warning, police officials emphasized that property owners who knowingly rent or lease their premises for such illegal activities will also face severe legal consequences, broadening the scope of accountability beyond just spa operators in Ongole.
