Spa Castle Reviews: A Mixed Experience at a Family-Friendly Korean Spa

Indoor spa area at Spa Castle with various temperature pools

Spa Castle in College Point, New York, offers a unique Korean spa experience for families. With four floors of facilities, including various temperature pools, seven themed saunas, outdoor pools, a kiddie pool (closed during our visit), sleeping and meditation rooms, a Korean restaurant, and a gym, there’s plenty to do. Spa Castle also offers additional services like foot massages and body scrubs.

The first floor houses gender-separated locker rooms and an “indoor spa” with various temperature pools and aqua jets. This area provided the most relaxing experience during our visit.

The second floor boasts “Sauna Valley,” featuring seven saunas with different temperatures and themes, such as the Gold Room and Ice Room. This floor also includes relaxation chairs, a buffet eating area.

On the third floor, visitors will find therapeutic jetted pools, including two outdoor four-season pools with jets and fountains, and an indoor bar pool.

While the facilities themselves earned a 4 out of 5 rating, the overall ambiance scored lower. The mandatory uniform policy, requiring all guests to wear provided shorts and t-shirts, felt restrictive and detracted from the relaxation experience. The crowds, particularly in the common areas, also impacted the peaceful atmosphere. The spa’s style felt disjointed, with some areas resembling a traditional spa while others felt more like a water park or resort.

Furthermore, the pricing for a family visit felt steep at $50 per person on weekends (no discounts for children over 3). With additional costs for food and drinks, a family of four can easily spend over $300 for a day.

Despite the drawbacks, children are likely to enjoy the pool areas. However, for those seeking a truly tranquil spa experience, Spa Castle might not be the ideal choice. The indoor spa area offered a respite from the crowds and noise, but the overall experience was a mixed bag. Considering the cost and ambiance, a traditional water park might offer better value for a family outing.
