Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts (CRMR), known for its collection of rustic mountain lodges in the Canadian Rockies, has acquired the renowned Post Hotel & Spa in Lake Louise. This addition marks the fourth hotel in CRMR’s portfolio, joining the esteemed company of Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff, Deer Lodge in Lake Louise, and Emerald Lake Lodge on Emerald Lake. CRMR also operates Urban Butcher and The Lake House in Calgary. This acquisition involved local Alberta investors and positions CRMR as the lead investor and management entity for the Post Hotel & Spa.
The acquisition reflects CRMR’s commitment to preserving the legacy of the Schwarz brothers, the previous owners of the Post Hotel & Spa. CRMR President, Larkin O’Connor, expressed enthusiasm for continuing the traditions of exceptional service and authentic Schwarz hospitality that have defined the Post Hotel & Spa experience. The O’Connor brothers, Ryan and Larkin, share a dedication to rocky mountain culture and family values, mirroring the ethos of the Schwarz brothers.

The Schwarz brothers, André and George, described the decision to sell as difficult but expressed confidence in CRMR’s ability to uphold the hotel’s values and maintain its unique character. They view the transition as a passing of the torch, ensuring the continuation of the traditions that have fostered lasting relationships with guests and staff. The sale ensures the preservation of the Post Hotel & Spa’s renowned reputation for creating memorable experiences in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
To ensure a seamless transition and maintain the high standards set by the Schwarz family, CRMR will retain the current management team, led by Michael and Carol Schwarz, along with the entire staff of the Post Hotel & Spa. This commitment underscores CRMR’s recognition of the staff’s integral role in creating the hotel’s distinctive atmosphere and providing exceptional guest service. The existing team’s expertise will be invaluable in preserving the legacy and culture of this iconic Lake Louise destination.
The acquisition was facilitated by Matt Rachiele of Colliers International, who served as financial advisor to CRMR. Rachiele’s efforts brought together individuals with a shared passion for the Rockies and a commitment to providing unparalleled hospitality experiences. This collaboration ensured a positive and successful transition for the Post Hotel & Spa, securing its future as a premier destination in Lake Louise. CRMR eagerly anticipates welcoming the Post Hotel & Spa’s guests and staff into its family, continuing the tradition of celebrating rocky mountain culture, Swiss-Canadian hospitality, and strong family values. The Post Hotel & Spa provides luxury accommodations and a world-class spa experience, making it an ideal base for exploring the Canadian Rockies and enjoying activities like hiking, skiing, and sightseeing.
