The city’s “Nirvana Thai Spa Massage Centre”, located in Vijayawada, became the center of a police investigation following a raid conducted on Saturday. The Special Branch police, in collaboration with MVP Colony Police, targeted the spa, leading to cases being registered against both the spa’s organizer and four Thai women employed at the establishment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the four foreign nationals, who are citizens of Thailand, had entered India on tourist visas. Contrary to visa regulations, they were found to be working at the Nirvana Spa Vijayawada, receiving daily wages for their services. Authorities indicate that these women arrived in Vijayawada in January of the current year.
Avinash Joshi, identified as the organizer of Nirvana Spa Vijayawada, is accused of employing the Thai nationals at his spa in the Seethammadhara area, violating established norms and labor laws. Furthermore, police reports suggest that the spa allegedly offered cross-gender massages as a common practice to attract and retain customers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), P.V. Ravi Kumar, stated that a notice has been issued to the spa organizer. This notice requires Avinash Joshi to provide a detailed explanation regarding the employment of foreign nationals who entered the country on tourist visas.
“We are thoroughly investigating this case from multiple angles,” stated Mr. Ravi Kumar. “This includes addressing allegations that the organizer may have been involved in pushing some of these women into prostitution activities within the spa.” Cases have been officially registered against the four Thai women under various sections of the Foreigners Act of 1946. Police have indicated plans to detain the women, with subsequent deportation proceedings to follow.
Police Commissioner T. Yoganand issued a strong warning against individuals who arrive in the city on tourist visas and engage in unlawful activities. He emphasized that stringent action will be taken against anyone found violating these regulations in the future.
