The Cherish Spa & Salon House in Himatnagar stands as a testament to thoughtful design, offering a space that embodies modern comfort with a distinct contemporary flair. In a country where the spa industry beautifully marries ancient Ayurvedic treatments with the lavishness of modern luxury, Cherish Spa & Salon emerges as a haven dedicated to rejuvenation and tranquility.
The owners envisioned a structure that would be architecturally unique within Himatnagar, a prominent administrative center. Their desire to integrate the spa and salon with their residence led to a strategic architectural blueprint, effectively creating a combined Spa-Salon Center and Home.
The building’s design maximizes land use and ensures excellent ventilation. Spanning four floors, each level is thoughtfully allocated to specific services and living spaces. Despite space limitations, the architects ingeniously crafted a design that maintained full functionality without compromising on spaciousness.
Given its location surrounded by residential and commercial buildings, privacy was a paramount concern. To address this, the exterior incorporates window slits, providing seclusion at eye level while allowing ample natural light to permeate the interiors.
The facade’s distinctive design, visible from all angles, ensures abundant natural light and ventilation, preventing any sense of interior confinement. The east-facing rear is kept open to optimize fresh air circulation. The west side, exposed to intense sunlight and heat absorption, is ingeniously treated with metal framing and a large louvered screen. This feature effectively filters daylight while minimizing heat penetration. The front facade is adorned with waterfall-effect slate stones, creating a visual distinction from the rest of the building’s structure.
Cherish Spa, designed primarily for women, prioritizes privacy above all else. A verdant green wall acts as a natural barrier, separating the salon from the outside world. This element creates a wide, plant-filled passage, effectively distancing the street from the building. The compound wall features an integrated post box, accessible from both inside and outside, adding a layer of convenience and discreet communication.
Upon entering the ground floor through the main door, guests are welcomed into the reception and waiting area, with the pedicure room located directly opposite. The pedicure room features two large recliner chairs and ground-level sinks. A central foyer serves as a connecting hub to the staircase, lift area, and the hair styling zone. The hair styling room is positioned across from the staircase, with the wax room adjacent to it. The sleek black tile flooring throughout the ground floor contributes to a neat and sophisticated ambiance. This level houses all essential facilities expected of a contemporary spa and salon, including a kitchen and kitchen yard at the rear, exclusively for salon use.
Ascending the staircase, one is greeted by a brightly lit space featuring a mural on one wall. The architects injected vibrancy and interest into this area by using MS plates finished in a vibrant Red PU color. A glass floor, complemented by handmade glass lamps suspended through the double-height space around the stair flight, transforms the staircase into a central design highlight. The entire staircase and lift segment are aligned within this central foyer, facilitating seamless vertical connectivity throughout the building.
Adding to the visual appeal of the red plates, pebble flooring with uplighting is incorporated beneath the stairs, further enriching the aesthetic. This pebble flooring detail serves as a creative focal point in the staircase area.
The first floor landing connects to another foyer. Directly ahead is the facial room, complete with an attached changing room and washroom. To one side of the staircase lies a magnificent bridal room, which includes a dedicated mirror room. Opposite the bridal room are practical spaces including a storage room, meeting room, and a nail art section, situated next to the lift for easy access.
The second floor blends spa facilities with residential space. It features a dedicated spa zone encompassing a waiting room, spa treatment rooms, and a spa washroom. A notable feature of the washroom is a skylight, enhancing the area’s aesthetics and natural light. The spa zone is designed for utmost privacy, ensuring tranquility and relaxation for clients. Alongside the spa services, this floor also includes a living room and dining room for the owners, as well as their kitchen area.
The third floor is primarily dedicated to the owners’ residence, featuring a master bedroom, a regular bedroom with a balcony, and a study room that opens onto a beautiful terrace garden.
Given the building’s scale, efficient circulation and connectivity were crucial. The central foyer design ensures that all areas are easily accessible and interconnected. Doors, stairs, and lifts converge in this central space, streamlining both horizontal and vertical movement throughout the structure.
Constructing this building presented a significant challenge, requiring designers to balance accessibility and functionality without compromise. They successfully crafted a space where every client and owner need is met, prioritizing simplicity and functionality while ensuring aesthetics and accessibility are paramount, allowing for undisturbed relaxation.
