Hokie SPA VT: Managing Guest Access to Financial Aid Information

The Hokie SPA (Student Payment Account) at Virginia Tech (VT) offers a convenient way for students to share their financial aid information with authorized individuals, such as parents or guardians, through a secure guest account access feature. This system allows students to control which information is shared and with whom, providing transparency and simplifying financial planning. Students can grant access to various data points, including award letters, aid requirements, financial aid holds, academic progress, cost of attendance, and loan history. Importantly, access granted by the student extends to all aid years, not just the current one.

To grant guest access, students must log into Hokie SPA with their PID and password, navigate to “Guest Account Access,” enter the guest’s email address, select the information to be shared, and click “Grant Access.” Students retain full control over access and can revoke permissions at any time by following a similar process: log in, select “Guest Account Access,” find the guest in the list, choose the information to revoke, and click “Remove Access.” Both the student and the guest will receive email confirmation of the change. Any modifications to the released information automatically update in the guest’s account, ensuring they always have the most current data.

Once a student grants access, the guest receives two emails. The first email confirms the invitation and provides a link to create a guest account, valid for 48 hours. The second email contains the student’s name and a summary of the released information. The guest must create an account using the provided link, filling out a form with their name, address, phone number, and a password that meets VT’s requirements.

After creating an account, guests can access the Hokie Spa Vt Guest Account Information Gateway using their email and password. Within the gateway, guests can navigate to “Financial Aid Information” to view the released data. They can select specific information types, aid years, and the associated student. To ensure privacy, guests should always use the “Exit” button and close their browser after each session. If a student removes access to specific information, the guest receives an email notification and will no longer be able to view the revoked data within the gateway.

Guests can permanently delete their Hokie SPA VT guest account if desired. This process involves accessing the Guest Account Information Gateway, navigating to the account management section, logging into the Virginia Tech Guest Account Management System (GAMS), and selecting the “Delete this Account” option. A confirmation email will be sent upon successful account deletion. Note that deleting an account is irreversible, requiring a new account creation for future access.
