The Mövenpick Dead Sea Spa offers a unique opportunity to experience the wonders of the Dead Sea. While the Dead Sea itself is a major attraction, the resort provides much more than just access to its salty waters. This article explores the journey to the Dead Sea from the Mövenpick Resort and Spa Dead Sea, highlighting the resort’s amenities, including the Zara Spa, and the overall experience of floating in the lowest point on Earth.
Upon arrival at the sprawling 6,000 square meter resort, the focus on amenities like restaurants, pools, and live entertainment might overshadow the Dead Sea. However, a short walk following a somewhat confusing path leads down to the shoreline. The access to the Dead Sea from the resort closes at 4:30 pm daily, reportedly for guest safety.
The resort’s vast size necessitates golf carts and even a funicular, although not operational during our visit. Eventually, the path leads to the Dead Sea, marked by a sign proclaiming it as the lowest point on earth.
The designated swimming area is a buoyed-off section where guests can experience the unique sensation of floating effortlessly. The extremely high salt content (33%) necessitates caution, as contact with eyes or open wounds can cause intense stinging.
Black mud, known for its therapeutic properties, is available for application, with a staff member overseeing the mud pot and a freshwater hose for rinsing. Showers and sun loungers provide comfort after a Dead Sea dip.
The Dead Sea experience is best enjoyed early in the day. The water temperature, even in winter, is a comfortable 23°C. A recommended 15-minute immersion time is suggested, though exceeding this limit didn’t seem to have any adverse effects. Floating effortlessly is a delightful experience, although maneuvering onto one’s front proves challenging.
With limited external exploration options, the resort’s amenities, particularly the Zara Spa, become central to the guest experience. For a reasonable fee, the spa offers access to a vast hydro pool with various features, an infinity pool overlooking the Dead Sea, and individual Jacuzzi chairs.
The spa’s indoor Dead Sea pool, containing 28% salt water, replicates the floating experience of the natural Dead Sea in a more controlled environment.
The Movenpick Dead Sea Spa provides a comprehensive resort experience, with the Dead Sea itself being a significant, albeit potentially less central, aspect of the stay. The Zara Spa offers a luxurious alternative for those seeking relaxation and a simulated Dead Sea experience without the environmental factors of the natural site. Both options contribute to a memorable stay at the resort.
